Venpattu (white silk) dhoti of Salem is a special variety of Handloom product. Pure mulberry silk is used in the warp and weft. Salem Silk Dhotis are produced from time immemorial by the local traditional weaving community known as “Sourashtra” Community. The Salem Venpattu Dhoti is a GI Registered Product. The Silk dhotis of Salem are justly famed for their lustre, whiteness, technical excellence and novelty of border designs.
