Dharohars Blocks and Prints began its journey in 2004, driven by the entrepreneurial spirit of Vinod Maleyvar. After dedicating 16 years to a successful career in marketing with prestigious organizations such as Times of India, Videocon, Toshiba and Singer. Vinod decided to embark on a new venture at the age of 40. Despite having numerous startup opportunities at his disposal, he felt a profound pull towards his ancestral craft of textile hand block printing—a tradition that had skipped two generations in his family but still resonated deeply with him.
With a heritage rooted in the Kshatriya Chippa community, known for its expertise in block printing, Vinod received invaluable guidance and support from community members who were already established in the field. This community backing was pivotal as he and his wife, Shilpa Maleyvar, embarked on this artistic endeavor.
Committed to mastering the craft, Shilpa personally learn the intricacies of block printing art. Equpped with new found skill Shilpa made a significant social impact by training children from slum areas, transforming them into skilled artisans who now serve as master craftsmen at Dharohars. After gaining 20 years of experience with VLCC and other renowned beauty brands and Working as a National Buisness Development Head, Shilpa is now focusing full time on expanding Dharohars Blocks & Prints business.
Today, Dharohars Blocks and Prints specializes in a wide array of techniques including discharge printing, pigment hand block printing, heritage prints, Gond art, kalamkari pattern and innoviting various Block Printing Art forms. This blend of tradition and modernity defines the essence of Dharohars, making it a beacon of cultural heritage and creative innovation
