BhavaniJamakkalam is GI registered product which refers to plain thick durries manufactured at Bhavani in Erode district of Tamilnadu. It is woven with coarser cotton yarns enabling weavers to weave different kind of designs which are mostly limited to stripes (coarser) in horizontal direction developed with the use of different colored weft yarns. Now-a -days, Jamakkalams are also used to make fashion products and accessories such as backpacks, carry bags etc.
