Blue Devbhumi Shawl
The natural raw materials in Devbhumi's case are natural
fibres that include silk (mostly tasar & mulberry)
and wool yarn (Himalayan merino) , while the silk
yarn is produced locally by the Devbhumi artisans residing
in the remote Himalayan villages using the
spinning machine called 'Paletha' in the local language
to produce silk yarn from the cocoons, this natural
yarn is than hand-dyed using the natural and eco
friendly Azo free colors, this dyed and dried yarn is
than made into small rolls of yarn using a warping drum, now that the yarn is ready to be
weaved into products, these rolls are uploaded to the the hand operated looms to produced
a shawl, scarf or a stole, capes, cushion covers, yardage etc. all these different stages of
production are handled by the artisans of Devbhumi.
